One to One Tuition

The school has received funding from the Government to provide One to One Tuition for students from September 2010 to July 2011. If you are interested in your son receiving this individual tuition which is completely free of charge to parents please read below.

•    Places are available to students who will be in years 7,8 and 9 from September 2010.
•    Students will receive 10 hours of One to One Tuition in either English or Maths aimed at supporting the work they are doing in class and raising their achievement in these key subjects.
•    The tuition will be delivered at school by a qualified teacher, many of whom are existing members of staff at the school and all of whom have been fully CRB checked.
•    Before the 10 tuition lessons start the tutor will prepare a clear and achievable list of targets for the student to work towards that will be agreed by the family, the student, the tutor and the class teacher.
•    The 10 hours would normally be delivered after school from 3pm – 4pm once a week, on a day that is convenient for the student, the family and the tutor. However these timings are flexible depending on family situations.
•    The 10 hours can be delivered across any period in the school year but will usually come at a time when students are preparing for key examination and assessments in English and Maths.
•    Parents / guardians are invited to attend the first tuition lesson to allow them to get a handle on how the sessions work although this is not essential.

Evidence from previous years shows that the One to One Tuition programme has a very positive impact on the achievement of the students that are involved.

Tuition places will be allocated depending on the academic needs of students and you will be contacted at the start of the new academic year in September to inform you of whether or not your son has been successful in securing tuition.
