The Aspire programme is designed to support our most able students in their journey to meeting challenging targets and achieving A*/A/B profiles in their examinations. The programme launched within the 6th Form in 2013, and following its success it has now been launched within Year 11.

Year 11 Aspire Programme

Year 11 Aspire Programme 2016/17. This programme has been developed to recognise and support our most able students who could achieve an A/B examination profile in summer 2017. The programme launched on 23rd November with an introductory meeting and outline.

The students have consistently demonstrated the ability to produce work of the highest quality and have achieved excellent results in benchmark assessments.

The Aspire programme will embed a framework of communication, collaboration and guidance to support the independent work our students undertake and will support effective preparation.

The programme will include:

  • Regular Aspire meetings (each Gold Wednesday at 8 a.m.)
  • Outward bound team building opportunities
  • Student collaboration opportunities
  • Sharing Good Practice mechanisms
  • Structured and monitored progress framework
  • External speakers
  • Skills sessions
  • Subject specific resources, equipment and tutorials
  • Departmental consultations
  • Highly personalised Aim Higher and 6th Form Transition Support Package

The overview for Term 1 is as follows:

In Term 2 further sessions will focus on:

  • Transformation techniques
  • Effective recall
  • Use of exam papers and mark schemes
  • Stress management
  • Advanced planning skills - reducing distractions and limiting factors

Sixth Form Aspire Programme

The 6th Form Aspire Programme was introduced in 2013 and is designed to support high ability students achieve A*/A/B profiles at A Level.

The programme commences in late January of each year, following key bench mark assessments and teachers assessments. Year 12 and 13 students follow the same programme for the purposes of collaboration and sharing of good practice, although some of the speakers and seminars may be delivered separately at times, to address the specific needs of Year Groups.

The Aspire programme will embed a framework of communication, collaboration and guidance to support the independent work our students undertake and will support effective preparation.

The programme will include:

  • Outward bound team building opportunities
  • Student collaboration opportunities

  • Departmental consultations
  • Highly personalised Aim Higher support
