Transition Into 6th Form

The transition to 6th Form is a significant one. At CBSC 6th Form, we are aware that the process can be both exciting and challenging and we endeavour to prepare our students, both internal and external for the journey.

From the start of Year 11, as the application process commences we gently introduce our students to their new 6th Form community. We schedule talks, tours, master classes, mentoring etc. Year 11’s will spend time with the 6th Form team who will provide advice and guidance on choosing A-level subjects and eventual career aspirations. These conversations continue throughout the year, with form tutors offering enough guidance to allow students both to aim high and to make informed, realistic and appropriate choices.

On October 17th 2017 we look forward to welcoming our potential 6th Formers to our Open Evening.  Families can speak to each subject teacher, collect informative literature, and speak informally to current A-level students about each particular course. Following this there will be an extensive programme of events that will ensure each 6th Former is confident, clear and supported. This calendar of events will include taster days, subject days, skills days and social events.

By the time September of Year 12 comes around, our students are confident and empowered as they embrace their 6th Form journey.
