Grouping Arrangements
Key Stage 3
Year 7 will be taught in tutor groups for most lessons. However, in the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science, they will be set according to ability during the course of the year and following assessments. In Year 8, pupils have been set according to ability in English, Mathematics and Science. Pupils will be taught in their tutor group for all other subjects. For both Year 7 and 8, pupils are also taught Citizenship, Computer Science, Food Studies, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish), Performing Arts, Physical Education, PRE, PSHE and Technology (rotation of subjects including healthy lifestyles). Pupils are taught either French or Spanish as their Modern Foreign Language. All pupils receive a dedicated PSHE lesson once per fortnight.
Key Stage 4
Year 9 pupils are divided into 3 equivalent bands; A and B for English, Mathematics, Science and PE. Pupils are set in these subjects within these bands except in PE. Pupils are also taught in option blocks of A, B, C or D dependent on their choices made. These subjects are not set according to ability. A national curriculum subject enrichment provision is also taught (including all national curriculum subjects). All pupils receive a dedicated PSHE lesson once per fortnight.
